Do You Read the Bible Out Loud in Your Church?

I’m writing a book, a handbook of sorts, for the folks who are active in the liturgical church ministry called “Lector” or “Lay Eucharistic Minister” or maybe just “Reader.” These folks are tasked with reading passages of scripture at specific points in their service. They are sometimes tasked with other jobs as well, like helping the celebrant with communion, or reading prayers, etc. But the book focuses particularly on how to bring one’s best to the reading of scripture for the benefit of the congregation.

Reading in front of people is scary and fraught with danger! What if you mess up? Mispronounce a word? Miss the point of the text? My book is a quick reference guide and skill-builder that will save people from the fear of blowing it in front of people. Plus, they’ll get a ton of encouragement in learning more about the Bible without spending months in classes or seminary.

I get it, this is quite a narrow niche, so the appeal will be quite specific. But if you or someone you know would be interested in reading my early drafts, giving me some feedback about how clear or unclear the book is, letting me know how helpful you think it would be for someone in that position, I would really appreciate it. Street Team members will get their own pdf copy of the book and will have their names listed in the book, with my thanks.
